Affordable Date Nights

Saturday, September 26, 2015

Hi everyone!  Sharlenae here.  Today I want to share with you guys some fun but inexpensive date ideas.  I think it’s so important for couples to keep dating even after marriage!  Sometimes, it might be something as simple as just going grocery shopping together, or taking a trip to Lowes.  My…how things can change… :) But really, it is so important to still take the time to just laugh and have fun together even when life can get crazy busy.

Phillip and I so enjoy being outdoors and there are many activities you can do outside that cost very little.  Packing a picnic lunch is always a good idea.  Explore some parks in your area for fun and find a favorite spot.  I love packing up my basket with some sandwiches and our favorite goodies!  Other date night ideas could include taking an evening walk or run together, finding a scenic place for a hike, or having a bonfire night.  For you coffee lovers out there, go check out a local coffeehouse and find your favorite cup of Joe.  Going out for froyo (one of our favorite deserts) or putting a batch of cookies in the oven for a game night at home is also fun!

Eating out for date nights can get pricy…but something that I’ve been into recently is checking websites and apps like cincysavers and groupon.  This is awesome if you want to take a night off of preparing a meal!  You can look up restaurants near you and spend half the price you normally would!  You can also get great discounts on outdoor activities such as kayaking, golfing, and horseback riding.  FYI, right now there are discounts on fall activities such as hayrides, pumpkin patches, and corn mazes. :)

What are some fun but inexpensive date ideas that y’all have come up with?

  12. 18 years and 8 children later (from 17 down to 3). We have decided we just enjoy some quiet time in our bedroom. We purchased a loveseat (on Craigslist) and now have a cozy spot to enjoy being together behind closed doors. Reading a book out loud together and watching a good Christian movie on a laptop are our 2 favorite things to do. I just found out that Dove.org has an app called Dove Channel where you can stream movies and see the Dove review all in one place. Some of the movies are free and some you must have the membership for.

We go out to eat occasionally but just being together in the quiet happens a lot more often now that we have a loveseat!

We also get away for a couple nights about once a year. This year we are looking forward to going to the Meramec Caverns Fall Festival of Gospel Music in about a week. See you there!!! :)
